Review: Kiss and Break Up by Ella Fields.

This author is just superb. Everything I have read of hers, I have loved.

So what’s a girl to do?

You beg to be on her review team!

Dashiell Thane wasn’t a nice guy.
He was an abrasive, demanding, conniving, intolerable brat.
Yet somehow, we’d been best friends our whole lives.
Until our senior year when I finally decided to dip my toes into the dating pool.

All it took was one kiss for jealousy, lies, and betrayal to sweep in and propel us heart first into dizzying, hostile depths.

You’re not supposed to kiss your best friend.
You’re definitely not supposed to kiss your best friend while you’re dating someone else.
And the absolute worst thing you could do is fall for your best friend.
Unless, of course, you want to ruin everything.

It makes me gleeful how fab this author is at writing NA! I always get so nervous before I read her books as I know either my heart will break or my insides will be shouting ANGST at top volume…..sometimes it’s both!
Peggy and Dash are besties and, us, the readers, get young love. But we all remember young love don’t we? We all know this isn’t going to be plain sailing!
Well this book captured all those memories!
I’ll leave you with this…
‘You win.
Freckles. We both win’

A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer.

A Fairyloot exclusive edition with a silky ribbon bookmark and has a rose shaped signed bookplate.

I haven’t read this book yet so am going to join in on the readalong on 18 March.

Do you get Fairyloot? What was your favourite item?

A Book and a Candle!!!

I thought I’d do something new (well new to me!!)

There is nothing I like more than a matching set! For books I love matching bookish items and candles are by far my favourite thing!

However it’s a catch 22 situation with my bookish candles as I want them….but I don’t want to burn them!!!!

Anyway, this month’s book and a candle is…….

The Folk of the Air series by Holly Black

The Cruel Prince

For this book I bought the Prince Cardan candle by Meraki Candles. It’s clove, oak, moss, leather, black pepper and pine flavour! I wonder if Cardan really smells like that!!!!

The Wicked King

I got my copy and the candle from Fae Crate. The candle is called Underwater Oaths and it’s made by Burning Bright Library. The description reads sea kelp, untamed waves and filtered sunlight. I just love that!

Do you have bookish items that you need with your books?

Tell me all (and I might start a new obsession!)

Top 5 Tuesday – Book Spines

20190227_1251182952280524117573751.jpg

I thought I would a do a few top 5’s this year and this jumped out at me!  Shanah at the Bionic Book Worm always has fabulous topics and you can find her March’s here.

You will need to forgive me for a couple of things, firstly I’m new to the top 5 game so bear with me as I find my feet and secondly for the rubbish photos below!  I’m not the greatest (as you can see!) but am hoping that practice makes perfect!!!!

I was worried that my picks weren’t imaginative enough but I love them for different reasons……let me explain!

A Court of Frost & Starlight by Sarah J Maas

I couldn’t not include a Sarah book! This series holds a special place in my heart and it’s something I have reread many times.

Caraval by Stephanie Garber

Look at the beautifulness of that spine……and what a series so far!

Roar by Cora Cormack

I am so fortunate to have great book friends.  My friend met Cora at a book signing and she got me this signed copy.  Also she included a Stormheart and also recorded a video with Cora in it for me!  I was so happy and it’s something I’ll treasure forever.

Heart of Thorns by Bree Barton

Firstly sorry for the crap picture!  I actually haven’t read this book yet but I just am in love with this spine!

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by JK Rowling

Not only am I obsessed with all things Harry, this series got me through quite a bad time in my life and also I found out that this copy is a very early edition (which I would never sale!)  My copy is a little beaten up but look at that spine!

Review: Bennett Mafia by Tijan

So Tijan reads are always great so I needed this in my life.

Mafia ✔

And Kai Bennett ❤

There were always whispers about my roommate at Hillcrest Academy.

The wealthiest of the wealthy sent their kids to our boarding school, and Brooke Bennett had been at the top, though I never quite knew why. She was fun and outgoing, but she kept quiet about her family. The only things she showed me were photographs of her brothers.

I became fascinated with her second-oldest brother. Kai Bennett.

He was the most of them all. Smoldering. Hypnotic. Alluring.

Kai had eyes that pulled me in and a face that haunted my dreams.

Then I met him.

He came to our school with their father, and that’s when I learned what kind of family Brooke came from. They were mafia, and Brooke’s oldest brother was dead. Her father said accident, but Brooke said murder.

Three months later, her father died, and Kai became the head of the Bennett Family. Brooke left Hillcrest for good, and that was the last time I saw her.

Fourteen years later, I’m staring at her face on the television. Brooke is missing.

Two days later, Kai Bennett kidnaps me.

Kai Bennett *insert girly screams* I swooned, I gasped, I was positively giddy!

Kai is the man who has it all, the world in his hands, controls it all.

‘You may hate me.

You may loathe me.

But you goddamn want me.’

Oh gawd Kai, yes I do!

But he can’t control everything it seems. His sister, Brooke, is missing and former roomie, Riley Bello finds herself Kai’s prisoner…….

Its full of chemistry, drama and was so addicting. I couldn’t put it down! It was a great read!

CJR The Brit: My Weekly Epilogue!

My March Reading List….

It’s now the start of the 3rd month of the year and I still haven’t read any books from my Beat the Backlist challenge.  And it’s my own fault!!  I can’t stop requesting arcs…….and March isn’t any different! I’ve promised myself that May, June and July will be months just for my tbr!!!

Here are the books I want (and need!) to read in March (if you click on the cover it will take you to the blurb on Amazon):

Never Contented Things by Sarah Porter

Knights Lady by Bella Jewel

Wicked Saints by Emily A Duncan

Also, ones currently without pre-order/covers are:

Tristan by Cora Brent

Kiss and Break Up by Ella Fields

Enthralled by Gianna Darling

If I can get a couple of my tbr reads in there I’ll probably go for

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

The Storm Crow by Kalyn Josephson

What are you reading in March?

I hope it’s a great month for you!

Stacking The Shelves – February edition!!

Stacking The Shelves is hosted at Tynga’s Reviews & Reading Reality. It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

After my total overspend in January, I tried to be good….and it worked out (although I’m still sobbing over the fact that I haven’t got King of Scars yet but as its £10 and I need to pull my spending back a bit, I’ll need to wait to get it)!

The Fever King by Victoria Lee (Kindle first read)
