Haul Look Back – November 2019

I totally pinched this idea from Destiny at Howling Libraries! Go check her out!

The idea of this post is to look at your haul from the same month but from last year to see how many of those books you have actually read.

I thought, more to keep myself accountable, that this would be a great! Last time I did this I managed to get to half read which I thought wasn’t too bad!

Here is my post from my November 2019 haul.

Winterwood by Shea Ernshaw – STILL ON TBR

I’ve only been doing these posts for 3 months and I dread doing them already!

I need to do something about this so I have joined the Beat the Backlist challenge in 2021 and try and tackle some of these!!!

End of the Year Book Tag!

Firstly I just wanted to shout from the rooftops that I hit my Goodreads challenge!

I’m doing Blogmas in December so thought I’d post this a little early!

I saw this tag on Fangirl Fury and knew I had to do it!!

End of The Year Book Tag

Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

No…taaadaaaa! I’ve either finished or decided that they weren’t for me full stop this year!

Do you have a book to transition into the end of the year?

I have a reading list for December but a very loose one. My reading list for November was to finish off my arcs for the year and to finish off a couple of series…and I did it!

Is there a new release you’re still waiting for?

From Blood and Ash by Jennifer Armentrout. I have no idea why I haven’t got it yet!

What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?

  • Famine by Laura Thalassa
  • The Iron King by Julie Kagawa
  • Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo

Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favorite book of the year?

Maybe Ninth House?

Have you already started making reading plans for 2021?

Oh yes! I’ve joined Beat the Backlist and I’ve already made some ‘rules’ for me to follow (which will probably be broken by February!!!)

Well that’s me!

Review: Memento by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman

mem

Title: Memento

Series: The Illuminae Files 0.5

Authors: Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman

AIDAN is the AI you’ll love to hate.

The advanced AI system was supposed to protect a fleet of survivors who’d escaped the deadly attack on Kerenza IV. AIDAN was supposed to be infallible. But in the chaotic weeks and months that followed, it became clear that something was terribly, terribly wrong with AIDAN…

AIDAN and his beginnings aboard the Alexander.

I felt so bad for Olivia Klein. Gone though so much, finally seeing a way out and she speaks the truth: ‘The benefits of reading include, but are not limited to, stress reduction, vocabulary expansion, stronger analytical skills, and memory improvement.’

This tidbit just goes to prove that AIDAN is a sick, twisted, creepy thing that should never have been released on this fictional world! I’m actually angry!

TTT – Characters I’d Name a Pet After

Top Ten Tuesday is featured by That Artsy Reader Girl. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Theme – Characters I’d Name a Pet After

I am 100% a cat person! Don’t get me wrong, dogs are cute and all but I’ve only ever had cats so that is where my loyalties lie!!!

If I ever get another cat (I still really haven’t got over losing my last cat 2 years ago!) then these are the names I would choose from:

Abraxos from Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas

Mr Kindly from Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

Binx from Hocus Pocus

These are some names that I’ve seen floating about and make me laugh!

Katniss from The Hunger Games

Aslan from The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe

Purrmione after Hermione from Harry Potter

Viktor after Viktor Krum from Harry Potter

And this one just makes me want to cry at the injustice!

Nymeria from Game of Thrones.

What would you choose?

Beat the Backlist 2021!!!

NovelKnight’s Beat The Backlist is back and I’m totally in!

WHY JOIN BEAT THE BACKLIST?

❓Do you have books on your to-read list that already released?

❓Do you struggle to get to those backlist books with all the new releases each year?

❓ Do you enjoy relaxed reading challenges you can do at your own pace?

If you answered Yes to any of those questions, then Beat the Backlist might be for you!!!!!

At the time of writing this post I have 50 books on my tbr. It was over 80 but I had a good whittle down of it. There was stuff on there that I will probably never read. They were all ebooks and I was enticed in by the reduced (or free) price! So……

My goal for BTB 2021 is 25 books.

I’m not naming books as that doesn’t go well for me so I’m just halving my tbr and I’ll read 25 from there!

Let me tell you all about BTB 2021 as there are changes:

  • See NovelKnights post here.
  • The book must be published in 2020 or before.
  • You have to start and finish the book in 2021.
  • Any format, any genre.
  • No team mini challenge.
  • No photo challenge
  • Bingo is back
  • No formal sign-up
  • Download graphics from NovelKnights post.

I ❤ Manon Blackbeak!

If you have read the Throne of Glass series you know who Manon Blackbeak is.

SHE IS MY FAVE!

I love her!

You might also know that Sophie at Beware of the Reader makes superb custom Funko’s and she kindly made me Manon!

Look at her! I was so happy when she arrived and still now, cannot stop looking at her!

Thank you again Sophie!!!

Books I Want in December/January!

It’s the time of year when my bank account does an Irish jig because there aren’t loads of book releases….but my account forgets it’s Christmas, the time of buying presents so it has been thwarted again!!!!

As I am doing Blogmas in December I thought I would add the books I want in January 2021 to this post too!

I’m trying to figure out what my book limit is each month but as I cant decide, January will probably be a free for all for me!!!!!
