The ‘other’ 12 days of Blogmas!!!!

🎅🎁🤶🎄🎅🎁🤶🎄🎅🎁🤶🎄

Over the past few years I’ve seen other bloggers do this and I have never done it, I have no idea why!

I’m hoping this will be a fun series of posts on the blog starting on 2nd December and ending on Christmas Eve!

I know that’s more than 12 days………..

I’ve seen most bloggers participate in Blogmas and post on consecutive days but I didn’t want to pressure myself that much over the Christmas lead up (hello work party hangovers!) so I’ll be posting Blogmas posts every other day.

The prompts I’ll be using are:

  • November wrap up
  • Favourite Christmas films
  • 2020 goals
  • Anticipated January 2020 book releases
  • Bookish Naughty and Nice list
  • Favourite Christmas foods
  • Books I want to read in 2020
  • Christmas Traditions
  • Festive Christmas Book Tag
  • My best books of 2019
  • My Christmas so far
  • Challenges – a close!

Will you be doing blogmas this year?

Just The Tip

‘What’s that?

Just the tip.

That’s what he said’

Reggie, ok I love her. Pretending to study, loves her history, hopelessly funny and lactose intolerant. What more could a girl want to read about?

It was hot, hilarious and extremely heartwarming!

Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland

Kissmas in New York

Doesn’t the name Chet immediately make you think of the guy in Weird Science! He was Chester to me!

‘I can be impulsive if I want to.

Really…

Yes.

So, if I dared you to do something right now in this café that you would never normally choose to do—anything at all—you would do it on a whim?’

That dare was a beginning of a nightmare for Margo but of course with a happy ending!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here in the UK but I just wanted to pass on my wishes for a happy day to all of you that do!

Also hope you have your turkey pants on……

I am always in awe at the pictures of Thanksgiving food that friends share with me and also totally jealous!!!!

What dishes do you make for Thanksgiving, I’d love to give them a try (but I’ll have to substitute any wheat, barley or rye!)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

Review: Queen of Nothing by Holly Black

Although I ordered the special Fairyloot box, I couldn’t wait for it to be delivered so I grabbed the ebook!

Title: Queen of Nothing

Author: Holly Black

He will be destruction of the crown and the ruination of the throne.

Power is much easier to acquire than it is to hold onto. Jude learned this lesson when she released her control over the wicked king, Cardan, in exchange for immeasurable power.

Now as the exiled mortal Queen of Faerie, Jude is powerless and left reeling from Cardan’s betrayal. She bides her time determined to reclaim everything he took from her. Opportunity arrives in the form of her deceptive twin sister, Taryn, whose mortal life is in peril.

Jude must risk venturing back into the treacherous Faerie Court, and confront her lingering feelings for Cardan, if she wishes to save her sister. But Elfhame is not as she left it. War is brewing. As Jude slips deep within enemy lines she becomes ensnared in the conflict’s bloody politics.

And, when a dormant yet powerful curse is unleashed, panic spreads throughout the land, forcing her to choose between her ambition and her humanity…

‘The great game of princes and queens and I have been swept off the board.’

Well you know Jude, she gets right back in there, and in fabulous style as per ususal!

Cardan made my cold heart crack. Quite simply, I love him!

Let me tell you I have been totally addicted to the previous books in this series and Queen of Nothing was no exception! There were chapters that made me gasp, made my heart warm and for the last 30% my heart was in my mouth! So you could say this book had all the feels!

What am I going to do now it’s over???

Mini Review Monday: Conclave by Penelope Douglas

It’s no secret that I love the Devils Night series, Michael Crist set my world on fire and then Damon overtook him in the ‘OMG’ stakes!

Well they are back, in a short novella, as a prequel to Nightfall which releases in 2020.

Title: Conclave

Author: Penelope Douglas

DAMON

Will is gone. He hasn’t been seen in months, and the texts coming from his phone are almost certainly forged. Something’s wrong. We need to act now.

Michael is ready to tear down The Cove, Rika’s hiding something, Evans Crist is a threat, and Winter’s father is still out there.

Everyone is off in a million directions, and we’re vulnerable. It’s time to do this.

It’s time to claim our place.

RIKA

A few years ago, I never thought I’d be here. On board Pithom. Miles out at sea. At a table with Michael Crist, Kai Mori, and Damon Torrance—men I now consider family.

We’ve locked ourselves on this yacht for however long it takes to address our agenda, and we won’t leave until everything is on the table.

Even things I don’t want to talk about. Things Michael doesn’t know.

We will find Will. We will solidify our plans, and we will remove any threats.

If we survive Conclave.

Gaaaaah! More nuggets from the Devils Night Crew!

So many secrets, so many admissions….

a papal conclave and it’s all coming out.

I love all of the couples in this series and I even think I am in love with what is to come in Nightfall, I just can’t wait!

‘One month, Devil’s Night. We have until then to find Will and get him back.’

NEED!!!

Ravings of a new DNF’r!!!

I have DNF 2 books in 1 day.

And I am feeling the guilt.

One was a book I received as part of the Kindle First programme (and I didn’t realise and bought the audio book too!)

I read the first 15% of the ebook and then switched to audio as I was in work but I found it to be flat and a bit, dare I say it, boring. So I switched back to the ebook. Couldn’t get back into it at all.

The other is an ebook I’ve had for ages, 5 years in fact! It’s also a book that everyone seems to love. Like love. But I didn’t like the lead guy, he was mean and basically vile to the leading lady and she just took it and ran after him even more! I just couldn’t take any more!!!!

So now I am here. In a stage of guilt. What is wrong with me? 2 books in 1 day that I DNF. Unheard of for me.

So now what do I do?

Do I put it down to an off day and retry or bin them off forever?

What do you do?

Top 5 Tuesday: Books I’d rewrite……

Harry Potter by JK Rowling

(I’m sure every man and his dog have an opinion on this series but……)

Sirius not to die and also Hermione to end up with Viktor! It’s purely a romance thing for me!

Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff

Ash to DIE! Yes I know that’s very bad. I’m a horrible person! But after what she did, nothing, NOTHING can get her back in my favour!

Kingdom of Ash (Throne of Glass) by Sarah J Maas

Dorian to actually have a firm HEA with Manon. I want to see it. I want to read about it. I want alllllllll the details!!! I want to see her as Queen of everything!

Scandalous by LJ Shen

Trent to ditch Edie and be with ME!! 😂

Chaos Series – Kristen Ashley

For it not to be the end after Free. I love this series, it has got me through some tough times over the years and I just am not ready to say goodbye….although the author is!!!

What books would you rewrite?

Mini Review Monday: ITUE by LJ Shen

Full disclosure – I am on this authors review team because I love her. I am only on a few authors review teams and they are all my unicorn authors…..

This releases on Tuesday 19 November, it’s a standalone and its fabulous!

Title: In The Unlikely Event

Author: LJ Shen

𝑆𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑒𝑠 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑚𝑒𝑒𝑡 𝑝𝑒𝑜𝑝𝑙𝑒 𝑤ℎ𝑜 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑙𝑑, 𝑠𝑜 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑚𝑎𝑘𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑚 𝑎 𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑠.

A one-night stand born from vengeance in a foreign land.
An explosive chemistry neither of us could deny.
We signed a contract on the back of a Boar’s Head Pub napkin that said if we ever met again, we would drop everything and be together.
Eight years and thousands of miles later, he’s here.
In New York.
And he’s America’s music obsession.
The intangible Irish poet who brings record executives to their knees.
The blizzard in my perfect, unshaken snow globe.
Last time we spoke, he was a beggar with no intention of becoming a king.
But a king he became, and now I’m his servant.
I’m not the same broken princess Malachy Doherty put back together with his callused hands.
I have a career I love.
A boyfriend I adore.
An apartment, a roommate, a life.
I changed. He changed, too.
But Mal kept the napkin.
Question is, will I keep my word?

Just when you think this author can’t beat anything she has written before……she does! She bloomin well does!

I double dare you, no I triple dare you, not to fall head over heels in love with Mal. I’m still breathing heavy just thinking about him!

Emotional, sexy, witty, unique…..just a few words to describe this book.

LJ Shen knocks it out of the park again so you would be mad not to read this!

Review: Archenemies by Marissa Meyer

It’s been a while since I read Renegades but when I started reading this, all the goodness came flowing back!

Title: Archenemies

Author: Marissa Meyer

Time is running out.
Together, they can save the world.
But they each other’s worst nightmare.

In Renegades, Nova and Adrian (aka Insomnia and Sketch) fought the battle of their lives against the Anarchist known as the Detonator. It was a short-lived victory.

The Anarchists still have a secret weapon, one that Nova believes will protect her. The Renegades also have a strategy for overpowering the Anarchists, but both Nova and Adrian understand that it could mean the end of Gatlon City – and the world – as they know it.

Back in the world of the Renegades…and I love it. Almost like watching Heroes all over again! (You know I’m sure I said this about book 1 too!!!)

Nova is still on the hunt for Ace’s helmet, Adrian is still trialing Sentinel, Max is still pulling at my heart strings and the Anarchists are still hell bent on over throwing the Renegades.

We also have the introduction of something new. Something bad in my opinion. It’s like tempting fate and you know it’s all going to go horribly wrong!

I loved Nova’s attempts of seduction to Adrian, although coming from a place of truth, was funny. Well maybe Adrian’s reactions were funnier! I also wanted to cuddle Winston!

All in all it was a fabulous read. I really didn’t think I’d enjoy a genre like this but I really do!

Bring on Supernova!
