Blogmas! My favourite Christmas films……

Welcome to my next Blogmas post!

I thought I would share with you my favourite films to watch in the lead up to Christmas.

There are so many Christmas films that I love but these are firm favourites that me and my son watch every year.

National Lampoons Christmas Vacation

Top fave! There is nothing better than hearing Eddie say ‘Shitters full’ 😂😂

Muppets Christmas Carol

My sons fave Christmas film! We have watched it so many times I could tell you all the words!

Santa Claus The Movie

I loved this when I was little, I was obsessed and used to watch it way after Christmas….and I still like to watch it now!

These are mine….what are yours?

Top 5 Tuesday: Surprising Reads of 2019

Top 5 Tuesday is brought to you by Shanah at the Bionic Bookworm, see her original post here.

Theme = Top 5 surprising reads of 2019

These books I didn’t have on my radar to read. Most of them came in my Fairyloot box or I just fancied something I didn’t normally read…..

A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer

I’m not really one for a retelling but this one grabbed me, sucked me in and spat me out one happy woman!

Skyward by Brandon Sanderson

The first sci-fi book on my list. I have never read sci-fi before, for no particular reason other than I just haven’t, but I absolutely LOVED this book! I have Starsight too and am hoping to read before the end of the year.

Serpent and Dove by Shelby Mahurin

Totally.Loved.This.Read

I saw a few people scoffing about the romance in this but romance is my thing….

Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson

I loved An Enchantement of Ravens and when I read the blurb about the great library I was excited. And this totally lived up to my excitement.

Aurora Rising by Jay Kristoff

My 2nd scifi book! I’ve only got into Jay Kristoff this year really so before I read the Nevernight trilogy I thought I would check this out….and I fell in love with his writing style. I have zero regrets!

What books would be on your list?

Closing the Chapter – see what I read in November!

Hi! Hope you had a good reading month and welcome to Blogmas!!!

Here in November we had Firework Night and we went to a public display, it was amazing! Also my best friend got married to the love of her life, watching them both walk down the isle, both in their wedding dresses bought tears to my eyes, I’m so happy for them!

We are firmly on the countdown to Christmas in my household and it’s made me feel like reading some Christmas type books but I haven’t found any I gel with…any suggestions are welcome!

Anyway, I managed to read 6 books in November!

So I am now bankrupt with Christmas round the corner…..but I do have loads of great books to read! What books did you get in November?

The ‘other’ 12 days of Blogmas!!!!

🎅🎁🤶🎄🎅🎁🤶🎄🎅🎁🤶🎄

Over the past few years I’ve seen other bloggers do this and I have never done it, I have no idea why!

I’m hoping this will be a fun series of posts on the blog starting on 2nd December and ending on Christmas Eve!

I know that’s more than 12 days………..

I’ve seen most bloggers participate in Blogmas and post on consecutive days but I didn’t want to pressure myself that much over the Christmas lead up (hello work party hangovers!) so I’ll be posting Blogmas posts every other day.

The prompts I’ll be using are:

  • November wrap up
  • Favourite Christmas films
  • 2020 goals
  • Anticipated January 2020 book releases
  • Bookish Naughty and Nice list
  • Favourite Christmas foods
  • Books I want to read in 2020
  • Christmas Traditions
  • Festive Christmas Book Tag
  • My best books of 2019
  • My Christmas so far
  • Challenges – a close!

Will you be doing blogmas this year?

Just The Tip

‘What’s that?

Just the tip.

That’s what he said’

Reggie, ok I love her. Pretending to study, loves her history, hopelessly funny and lactose intolerant. What more could a girl want to read about?

It was hot, hilarious and extremely heartwarming!

Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland

Kissmas in New York

Doesn’t the name Chet immediately make you think of the guy in Weird Science! He was Chester to me!

‘I can be impulsive if I want to.

Really…

Yes.

So, if I dared you to do something right now in this café that you would never normally choose to do—anything at all—you would do it on a whim?’

That dare was a beginning of a nightmare for Margo but of course with a happy ending!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here in the UK but I just wanted to pass on my wishes for a happy day to all of you that do!

Also hope you have your turkey pants on……

I am always in awe at the pictures of Thanksgiving food that friends share with me and also totally jealous!!!!

What dishes do you make for Thanksgiving, I’d love to give them a try (but I’ll have to substitute any wheat, barley or rye!)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

Review: Queen of Nothing by Holly Black

Although I ordered the special Fairyloot box, I couldn’t wait for it to be delivered so I grabbed the ebook!

Title: Queen of Nothing

Author: Holly Black

He will be destruction of the crown and the ruination of the throne.

Power is much easier to acquire than it is to hold onto. Jude learned this lesson when she released her control over the wicked king, Cardan, in exchange for immeasurable power.

Now as the exiled mortal Queen of Faerie, Jude is powerless and left reeling from Cardan’s betrayal. She bides her time determined to reclaim everything he took from her. Opportunity arrives in the form of her deceptive twin sister, Taryn, whose mortal life is in peril.

Jude must risk venturing back into the treacherous Faerie Court, and confront her lingering feelings for Cardan, if she wishes to save her sister. But Elfhame is not as she left it. War is brewing. As Jude slips deep within enemy lines she becomes ensnared in the conflict’s bloody politics.

And, when a dormant yet powerful curse is unleashed, panic spreads throughout the land, forcing her to choose between her ambition and her humanity…

‘The great game of princes and queens and I have been swept off the board.’

Well you know Jude, she gets right back in there, and in fabulous style as per ususal!

Cardan made my cold heart crack. Quite simply, I love him!

Let me tell you I have been totally addicted to the previous books in this series and Queen of Nothing was no exception! There were chapters that made me gasp, made my heart warm and for the last 30% my heart was in my mouth! So you could say this book had all the feels!

What am I going to do now it’s over???

Mini Review Monday: Conclave by Penelope Douglas

It’s no secret that I love the Devils Night series, Michael Crist set my world on fire and then Damon overtook him in the ‘OMG’ stakes!

Well they are back, in a short novella, as a prequel to Nightfall which releases in 2020.

Title: Conclave

Author: Penelope Douglas

DAMON

Will is gone. He hasn’t been seen in months, and the texts coming from his phone are almost certainly forged. Something’s wrong. We need to act now.

Michael is ready to tear down The Cove, Rika’s hiding something, Evans Crist is a threat, and Winter’s father is still out there.

Everyone is off in a million directions, and we’re vulnerable. It’s time to do this.

It’s time to claim our place.

RIKA

A few years ago, I never thought I’d be here. On board Pithom. Miles out at sea. At a table with Michael Crist, Kai Mori, and Damon Torrance—men I now consider family.

We’ve locked ourselves on this yacht for however long it takes to address our agenda, and we won’t leave until everything is on the table.

Even things I don’t want to talk about. Things Michael doesn’t know.

We will find Will. We will solidify our plans, and we will remove any threats.

If we survive Conclave.

Gaaaaah! More nuggets from the Devils Night Crew!

So many secrets, so many admissions….

a papal conclave and it’s all coming out.

I love all of the couples in this series and I even think I am in love with what is to come in Nightfall, I just can’t wait!

‘One month, Devil’s Night. We have until then to find Will and get him back.’

NEED!!!
