Theme – Characters I’d Name a Pet After

I am 100% a cat person! Don’t get me wrong, dogs are cute and all but I’ve only ever had cats so that is where my loyalties lie!!!

If I ever get another cat (I still really haven’t got over losing my last cat 2 years ago!) then these are the names I would choose from:

Abraxos from Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas

Mr Kindly from Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

Binx from Hocus Pocus

---

These are some names that I’ve seen floating about and make me laugh!

Katniss from The Hunger Games

Aslan from The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe

Purrmione after Hermione from Harry Potter

Viktor after Viktor Krum from Harry Potter

---

And this one just makes me want to cry at the injustice!

Nymeria from Game of Thrones.

---

What would you choose?

NovelKnight’s Beat The Backlist is back and I’m totally in!

WHY JOIN BEAT THE BACKLIST?

❓Do you have books on your to-read list that already released?

❓Do you struggle to get to those backlist books with all the new releases each year?

❓ Do you enjoy relaxed reading challenges you can do at your own pace?

If you answered Yes to any of those questions, then Beat the Backlist might be for you!!!!!

At the time of writing this post I have 50 books on my tbr. It was over 80 but I had a good whittle down of it. There was stuff on there that I will probably never read. They were all ebooks and I was enticed in by the reduced (or free) price! So……

My goal for BTB 2021 is 25 books.

I’m not naming books as that doesn’t go well for me so I’m just halving my tbr and I’ll read 25 from there!

Let me tell you all about BTB 2021 as there are changes:

• See NovelKnights post here.
• The book must be published in 2020 or before.
• You have to start and finish the book in 2021.
• Any format, any genre.
• No team mini challenge.
• No photo challenge
• Bingo is back
• No formal sign-up
• Download graphics from NovelKnights post.

If you have read the Throne of Glass series you know who Manon Blackbeak is.

SHE IS MY FAVE!

I love her!

You might also know that Sophie at Beware of the Reader makes superb custom Funko’s and she kindly made me Manon!

Look at her! I was so happy when she arrived and still now, cannot stop looking at her!

Thank you again Sophie!!!

It’s the time of year when my bank account does an Irish jig because there aren’t loads of book releases….but my account forgets it’s Christmas, the time of buying presents so it has been thwarted again!!!!

As I am doing Blogmas in December I thought I would add the books I want in January 2021 to this post too!

I’m trying to figure out what my book limit is each month but as I cant decide, January will probably be a free for all for me!!!!!

A Vow So Bold and Deadly by Brigid Kemmerer

Into the Heartless Wood by Joanna Ruth Meyer

Tales from the Hinterland by Melissa Albert

Title: Obsidio

Series: Illuminae Files #3

Authors: Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman

Kady, Ezra, Hanna, and Nik narrowly escaped with their lives from the attacks on Heimdall station and now find themselves crammed with 2,000 refugees on the container ship, Mao. With the jump station destroyed and their resources scarce, the only option is to return to Kerenza–but who knows what they’ll find seven months after the invasion?

Meanwhile, Kady’s cousin, Asha, survived the initial BeiTech assault and has joined Kerenza’s ragtag underground resistance. When Rhys–an old flame from Asha’s past–reappears on Kerenza, the two find themselves on opposite sides of the conflict. With time running out, a final battle will be waged on land and in space, heros will fall, and hearts will be broken.

Am loving this series so much and I knew that this would be fab! I can honestly say, this series is right up there in my top 5 ever!

I listened to this but also got all excited and bought the physical books! The audio is narrated by a cast and is just utterly brilliant.

We are back with Kady, Emma, Hannah and Nik and now we have 2 new players, Asha and Rhys, but he is on the wrong side. Gasp!

Aiden is back and is just as creepy,

It was emotional,

I felt actually sick with emotion,

It was a total ride,

It was action packed,

Full of banter,

Brilliant,

Utterly brilliant,

That ending,

‘They shook the stars.’

Nik is still my fave but its a hard choice to make with the other, brilliant characters!

I just one clicked Memento so now onto that!

Theme – Book Titles that Would Make Great Song Titles

What a great subject! I actually could’ve done a lot of options but unforts I have stuff to do so had to cut it short before I rush out!!! And this week, I’m keeping it romance-y!

Evil Love by Ella Fields

Am singing to the tune Savage Love by Jason Derulo!

---

Playing with Fire by LJ Shen

I’m imaging something dancey, rave-ish if you will!

---

Ace of Hearts by Chantal Fernando

Umm hello Ace of Spades by Motorhead, just swapping those lyrics a bit!

---

After the Climb by Kristen Ashley

This immediately made me think of Kate Bush (shout out to the 70’s, but I really am not old enough to remember this!!!)

FORMAT SNOB – You can only choose 1 format in which to read books for the rest of your life. Which one do you choose: physical books, eBooks, or audiobooks?

If you had asked me this 2 years ago my answer would’ve been ebooks, 1 year ago audio but now my answer would be physical. Ask me again in a year and my answer might change again!!!!

---

---

ADAPTATION SNOB: Do you always read the book before watching the film/ TV show?

I always like to read the book first because you get more detail there and you can imagine the world the characters inhabit in your mind…..and then the film can blow that all always being completely different!!!

---

---

SHIP SNOB Would you date or marry a non-reader?

Yes and I have done and it doesn’t really bother me as long as I get my reading time!

---

---

GENRE SNOB You have to ditch one genre – never to be read again for the rest of your life. Which one do you ditch?

Ooo. Umm. Erm. What a hard question. I like it all! Probably horror because I am a total scaredy cat!

---

---

COMMUNITY SNOB Which genre do you think receives the most snobbery from the bookish community?

Romance, defo romance. But I love reading romance!

---

---

SNOBERY RECIPIENT Have you ever been snubbed for something that you have been reading or for reading in general?

Yes. My work colleagues all extract the wee and shout stuff out like ooo are your loins burning and stuff like that. So now I just don’t mention reading to them or take books to work (just audiobooks!) But that’s a sad situation.

I won’t tag anyone but feel free to take part!

I know that this is a shameless plug but I’m trying to add to my followers on Instagram (and obviously will follow back!)

I’ve had IG for a long time now but never religiously used to post. Well that has changed now!

I’m really getting into taking photos of my books, posing daily questions, interacting with others and I’ve even done a reel!! My next challenge is IGTV!!
