TTT – Comfort Reads

Top Ten Tuesday is featured by That Artsy Reader Girl. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Topic – Comfort Reads

Comfort reads for me are books I like to reread when I’m in a funk, in a slump or I’ve just been hankering to read them again as something reminded me about the story!

For this post I’ve split into 2, books I’ve reread already and some I haven’t reread but want to!

Books I haven’t reread yet but know I will!

Zodiac Academy
The Love Hypothesis
Gild
Clockwork Prince

Books I’ve reread many times!
The Extraordinaires
The Rock Chick’s
Until the Sun Falls from the Sky
Ride Steady
Cash’s Fight
Reapers Legacy

How about you? What books are your comfort reads?

Mini Review: Forced Bonds by J Bree

Title: Forced Bonds

Series: The Bonds That Tie #4

Author: J Bree

They say to keep your friends close but your enemies closer;

What if theyโ€™re one and the same?

The stable foundation I thought Iโ€™d built in the Sanctuary has been ripped away, and I find myself on the front lines of the war against the Resistance. I might have my Bonds on my side, but there are darker schemes in motion.

Can I prove myself and turn the tide to protect our most vulnerable, or am I nothing more than the monster theyโ€™ve always claimed I am?

Will we make it out of this without tragic consequences?

Back with Oli and her Bonded and the war with Silas Davies and the Resistance.

There’s a lot of action, drama and well you know, RH things!!!! There’s also a couple of new characters introduced, one of whom I loved the sound of although we haven’t seen much of her yet!

Out of all the men in this story Sawyer is actually my fave and he’s not even in Oli’s Bonded group!

‘Letโ€™s leave Sawyer to his creeper ways, Bond. I have something I want to show you. We leave together to the sound of Sawyer calling out, Spoiler alert! Itโ€™s his dick!’

And that’s why I love him!!!!

I can’t even talk about that ending. That bloomin ending! No way!!!!

Review: The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black

Title: The Coldest Girl in Coldtown

Author: Holly Black

Tana lives in a world where walled cities called Coldtowns exist. In them, quarantined monsters and humans mingle in a decadently bloody mix of predator and prey. The only problem is, once you pass through Coldtown’s gates, you can never leave.

One morning, after a perfectly ordinary party, Tana wakes up surrounded by corpses. The only other survivors of this massacre are her exasperatingly endearing ex-boyfriend, infected and on the edge, and a mysterious boy burdened with a terrible secret. Shaken and determined, Tana enters a race against the clock to save the three of them the only way she knows how: by going straight to the wicked, opulent heart of Coldtown itself.

I have had this on my tbr for an age and I still don’t know why I hadn’t read this sooner. I loved it!

Tana found herself in the middle of a bloodbath and escapes with 2 unlikely companions. Aiden, her ex, who has been bitten by a vamp but not yet transformed and Gavriel, an actual vamp.

She needs to get them to Coldtown, a cornered off piece of the city where vamps can run free.  Plus she decides to go in herself with a token of escape.

Gavriel is everything I want in a vamp. A bit crazy, tortured and lovely to look at! I loved him!

‘Theyโ€™d taken every other piece of him. He would hold on to revenge. It would be his fairy story, his lullaby, sung softly by flayed lips. Off-key and deranged.’

I actually liked Aiden (the ex) and also another secondary character, Jameson. Tana was so strong, you couldn’t help but like her even though she played with death a lot! Another thing I loved was the portrayal of the vamps in this world. The same but different!

I liked the ending, it was a sort of promise of what I want it to become and I’d love to see more stories set in this world.
