Review: Beneath The Haunting Sea by Joanna Ruth Meyer

Oh wow, you know when you kick yourself from not reading a book you own sooner? Well this happened to me with this book!

I’m sure many of you have read as I am always late to the party (blame my huge tbr, not me!) so I wont add on the blurb but if you do want to read it then click here.

Here is my 5 star review!!!

I haven’t been this enthralled in a book for a while! Mystery and legend. Fave!

This was a holiday read and I had to grab chapters here and there, which saddened me as I wanted to gulp it all up at once! I found myself waking up before my family to snatch a few chapters!

It was just utterly beautiful and breath taking although I must admit the romance did irk me. A love square. <—- is that even a thing? A square? It is now! But in the end I loved them all!

The mystery of the story gripped me. It was so amazing. The questions and the ‘Oh July god I can’t wait to read more’ is the mark of a fab book for me.

3 Day quote challenge: Day 3

I wasn’t tagged by anyone to do this but saw it and wanted in!

What a lovely idea this is!

Rules:

1. Post a quote for three consecutive days (1 quote for each day).

2. Share why this quote appeals so much to you.

Day 3

My son is the apple of my eye although sometimes I think he is going to suck every bit of sanity I have!!!

He is growing up to be a fantastic human! We laugh together, learn together and are there for each other always.

3 Day quote challenge: Day 2

I wasn’t tagged by anyone to do this but saw it and wanted in!

What a lovely idea this is!

Rules:

1. Post a quote for three consecutive days (1 quote for each day).

Day 2

A mantra I try and live by.

In my 20’s I realised how short life was and I didn’t want to worry more than I needed to about things I couldn’t control.

Don’t get me wrong, I do think about all the stuffs but when I realise I’m not getting anywhere, this is what I do!

Review: Throne Of Glass by Sarah J Maas

Ok, I know I am so late to this party!

I don’t know why I haven’t read this series sooner and now I am regretting it! To put it simply, I am in love with it! All of it! The world. the writing, the characters and I cant wait to see what happens next!

Anyway…..I wont bore you with the blurb as I am sure that everyone has read but you can purchase here

CJR THE BRIT REVIEW

Superb. Just superb.

I was hooked. Couldn’t get enough of Celaena, Chaol and Dorian and all the shannanigans surrounding them!

And the intrigue! I was on tenterhooks!

And the promise of magic.

And the promise of friendships.

And the promise of love.

The promise of what could be.

Blew me away.

‘You could rattle the stars, You could do anything, if you only dared. And deep down, you know it, too.’

And in 5 words, near the end of this book, my excitement (and hope!) for this series soared…..

PREVIEW: Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren….

I’m so happy that I got an arc of this so thank you to Christina and Simon and Shuster!

I really wanted to read this as I’ve heard from my book friends that Hazel is unique and quirky. Can never get enough of that in my book life!

Get ready for the release on September 4th by pre-ordering on Amazon.

Here is the blurb:

Most men can’t handle Hazel. With the energy of a toddler and the mouth of a sailor, they’re often too timid to recognize her heart of gold. New York Times and #1 international bestselling author Christina Lauren (Roomies, Beautiful Bastard) tells the story of two people who are definitely not dating, no matter how often they end up in bed together.

Hazel Camille Bradford knows she’s a lot to take—and frankly, most men aren’t up to the challenge. If her army of pets and thrill for the absurd don’t send them running, her lack of filter means she’ll say exactly the wrong thing in a delicate moment. Their loss. She’s a good soul in search of honest fun.

Josh Im has known Hazel since college, where her zany playfulness proved completely incompatible with his mellow restraint. From the first night they met—when she gracelessly threw up on his shoes—to when she sent him an unintelligible email while in a post-surgical haze, Josh has always thought of Hazel more as a spectacle than a peer. But now, ten years later, after a cheating girlfriend has turned his life upside down, going out with Hazel is a breath of fresh air.

Not that Josh and Hazel date. At least, not each other. Because setting each other up on progressively terrible double blind dates means there’s nothing between them…right?

CJR The Brit Review: Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young

Oh wow. You know when you read a book and it captivates you? Well this book did it for me! Vikings!

Here is a bit about the book:

OND ELDR. BREATHE FIRE.

Raised to be a warrior, seventeen-year-old Eelyn fights alongside her Aska clansmen in an ancient rivalry against the Riki clan. Her life is brutal but simple: fight and survive. Until the day she sees the impossible on the battlefield—her brother, fighting with the enemy—the brother she watched die five years ago.

Faced with her brother’s betrayal, she must survive the winter in the mountains with the Riki, in a village where every neighbor is an enemy, every battle scar possibly one she delivered. But when the Riki village is raided by a ruthless clan thought to be a legend, Eelyn is even more desperate to get back to her beloved family.

She is given no choice but to trust Fiske, her brother’s friend, who sees her as a threat. They must do the impossible: unite the clans to fight together, or risk being slaughtered one by one. Driven by a love for her clan and her growing love for Fiske, Eelyn must confront her own definition of loyalty and family while daring to put her faith in the people she’s spent her life hating.

CJR THE BRIT REVIEW

Vegr yfir fjor. Honor above life.’

Eelyn is an Aska warrior, every bit a tough viking woman, strong, fearless but in battle she sees her brother, Iri, who she thought to be dead. From that moment she is pulled into the Riki way of life. But Eelyn has much more to fear than the Riki.

The picture this book painted of the viking world made me feel if I was there (mind you I don’t think I could handle seeing an animal sacrifice for real!)

The writing was sublime and the story, oh the story, I read this book slowly, savouring every word. How it focused on their world and family values, it won a place in my heart and it certainly pulled all the feels out of me!

In short, I loved every bit about it!
