A Book A Day – did I do it?

I set my self a little challenge on my week off…..can I read a book a day?

I had the week off work and there was no school work to help my son with as it was school holidays. He was busy with his Zoom social life (!) so I had time that I didn’t know how really to fill once the cooking, washing and cleaning had been done, so I read!

I picked books from my tbr that I was in the mood for and also a sneaky new release. I can’t say all the books were big (well 1 was!) but I still did it!

Have you ever set yourself a challenge like this?

Last week we had Summer Releases I am looking forward to and this week I thought I would give a shout out to Summer with…..

It arrived! Harry Potter House Edition!

IT ARRIVED!!!! 🧹🦉

Hogwarts House Edition of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix!!!!

It’s magnificent, and so big, over 800 pages of Harry Potter goodness!

There was a pre order incentive of Harry Potter Notebook!

To me the cover looks a bit off centre but it could be to do with the band that holds the book together.

But I’ll be using that!

Do you collect the special House Editions?

What House do you collect?

(I’m actually a Ravenclaw but my son is a Gryffindor and I lost the draw of which to collect!!!)

Introducing: Tuesday to Thursday TBR

I read 12 books in May and I was really happy with that. But when I looked only 2 were from my huge tbr and that got rid of a bit of my joy!

My TBR is over 100 books, probably closer to 150, and these are books I bought as I wanted to read…..and I haven’t read them! Crazy!

So Tuesday to Thursday TBR popped in my head.

On a Tuesday to Thursday each week I am only going to read a book from my tbr. With smaller books I’ll be able to finish but with a bigger book I’ll have to carry it over to the next week (let’s hope that works!!!)

Has anyone done anything that’s worked to read their tbr?

Review: Moti on the Water by Leylah Attar

Title: Moti on the Water

Author: Leylah Attar

A Greek family. An Indian family. A summer wedding on the Aegean coast…

Meet Moti Ferreira—spectacularly jinxed from the day she’s born.

Saddled with an eccentric mother, she stumbles upon the one man who holds the key to her freedom—the best man at her cousin’s upcoming wedding.

All Moti has to do is overcome her fear of water, board a yacht to the Greek Isles, seduce the dreamy Nikos Manolas, and survive two weeks at sea with her oddball family.

The only obstacle Moti doesn’t see coming is Alexandros Veronis, the onboard chef and star witness to her awkward mishaps. He transforms onions into chocolate and aroma into nostalgia. Day by day, his alchemy works its magic on Moti. But she’s not the only one falling under his spell. Everyone has a secret, growing round and ripe at Chef Alex’s table. When the masks fall off, they spill out one by one, and everything blows up in their faces.

Now Moti’s truth is exposed, and worse, she’s hooked on more than Alex’s midnight snacks. But this time, screwing up could be the best thing she’s ever done…

Omg. Funny. Hilarious. Laugh out loud. I actually had tears rolling down my face at points.

Moti is a walking disaster. And I say that with all the kindness in the world. If it’s going to happen, it will happen to her!

A prophesy told when Moti was born (just like Harry Potter!) and she is waiting for the man in said prophesy to appear but I’m rather on her Nan’s side ‘Your turn will come too. And when it does, don’t listen to anything but your heart.’

And let me tell you the Nan would’ve been my firm friend. The realist, most down to earth person in Moti’s family.

Who is it to be, Three-Thumbed Nikos or Chef Alex?

The revelations at the end. I thought this book was funny but the truths shared were just so good!

This story was just beautiful. Finding love at it’s finest.

Not T5T – Summer releases to look forward to……

With Shanah being super busy and taking a well deserved blog break, there is no Top 5 Tuesday for June so I thought I’d have a go at doing my own (not all the time, I struggled to come up with 5 weeks worth!!!)

I was toying with idea of a half year book-ish reflection and to set me up for the next half year – very loosely!

For the first topic I’m going to show you is Summer Releases (July and August) that I think will be perfect Summer reads.
