Romance Week: My Favourite Couples….

Love is in the air…..well it is in books!

For Romance Week I thought putting out there who my favourite couples are was a great idea!

Cue lots of reminiscing about books.

*5 hours later*

Cue battling myself over which couples to choose.

***Also note that Hermione and Ron are not on here because SHE SHOULD’VE ENDED UP WITH VIKTOR!!!!***

Feyre and Rhys (A Court of series by Sarah J Maas)

I mean this wouldn’t have been my faves list unless they were on it. They are EVERYTHING!!

Dax Lahn and Circe (Golden Dynasty by Kristen Ashley)

Although they had a very weird start (traumatic for Circe!) they found their way and grew from strength to strength and wormed their way into my heart!

Nina and Mathias (Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo)

I still can’t talk about it though *insert sobs*

Eddie and Jet (Rock Chick Rescue by Kristen Ashley)

The Rock Chicks series is one I reread all the time and of all the Rock Chicks and Hot Bunch, these 2 are my faves!

Romance Week: Upcoming Romances I Want!

Carrying on with all the love stuff!!!

The genres I read couldn’t be further apart. I love YA fantasy but I also love reading romance, the darker the better!

Most of the romance books I read are indie published and sometimes they are sprung on you so these are the ones I know about as I have searched the pre order links. I’m sure there are many more I want but dont know about them yet!

Stone Princess by Devney Perry (May)

Dream Maker by Kristen Ashley (May)

Wild Fire by Kristen Ashley (September)

Do you read romance?

Which books are you looking forward to?

Romance Week: My Favourite Romance Books!

Just going to jump straight in and tell you about my favourite romance books (I have many but these are stand out ones!)

Serpent and Dove by Shelby Mahurin

Unconventional I know. But I love Lou and Reid, they are what the world needs!

Dragons Lair by Chantal Fernando

Accidental pregnancy…..from a one nighter with a biker. A President no less. It’s all fun and games!!!

Pucked series by Helena Hunting

Oh jeez. Now where can I start with this hockey series? You just need it. It’s a roll around the floor laughing series…and the best of it? Randy Ballistic. Yes my favourite character, Randy Balls features heavily!

Cash’s Fight by Jamie Begley

When I have a slumpy time this book comes out and jump starts me into action. The Last Riders is an MC series and ypu would need to start from book 1 but this book is my favourite. Cash and his pregnancy excuses rule my life!

Reapers Legacy by Joanna Wylde

You need to read it. But you need to remember that Ruger is MINE!

What are some of your romance faves?

Top 5 Tuesday: Books That Were Not What I Expected

Top 5 Tuesday is brought to you by Shanah at the Bionic Bookworm, see her original post here.

Theme = 5 books that weren’t what I expected

I pondered on this for a while. Books that weren’t what I expected. But in a good or bad way? So I decided to do a mixture!

King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo

Loved this book. Totally. But I expected all Nikolai. What I didn’t expect was another sob fest because Nina and Mathias own my heart. I cant relive it again, I have to stop *small sob escapes*

Slayer by Kiersten White

I was so excited for this book. Literally quivering with joy. But it totally didn’t work for me and I DNF’d. I also gave myself major guilts over it as I wanted to love it, so many people did….but why not me?! But we are where we are so….

Skyward by Brandon Sanderson

Sci-fi…me? I really didn’t think I was a sci-fi fan BUT I SO AM! This book has led me to read a few other sci-fi books and I am hooked!

Untouchable by Sam Mariano

I knew this was a dark, bully book. It has some pretty questionable incidents and there were some reviews that slated it. However my friend loved it and said I should give it a go. I must admit I was slack jawed at some stuff that happened in the book…..but…..it was a great read. And now I’m wondering what sort of person that makes me!

City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab

A middle grade read at my age? Surely not? But oh yes. I ate this up and then also book 2, Tunnel of Bones.

What books would make your list?

🎧 Review: Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I heard so much about this book that I needed! I first bought it on ebook and then audio, you know, for completeness!!!

Title: Daisy Jones and the Six

Author: Taylor Jenkins Reid

Everyone knows Daisy Jones & The Six: The band’s album Aurora came to define the rock ‘n’ roll era of the late seventies, and an entire generation of girls wanted to grow up to be Daisy. But no one knows the reason behind the group’s split on the night of their final concert at Chicago Stadium on July 12, 1979 . . . until now.

Daisy is a girl coming of age in L.A. in the late sixties, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock ‘n’ roll she loves most. By the time she’s twenty, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things.

Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne. On the eve of their first tour, his girlfriend Camila finds out she’s pregnant, and with the pressure of impending fatherhood and fame, Billy goes a little wild on the road.

Daisy and Billy cross paths when a producer realizes that the key to supercharged success is to put the two together. What happens next will become the stuff of legend.

The making of that legend is chronicled in this riveting and unforgettable novel, written as an oral history of one of the biggest bands of the seventies. Taylor Jenkins Reid is a talented writer who takes her work to a new level with Daisy Jones & The Six, brilliantly capturing a place and time in an utterly distinctive voice.

I have never read a book written in this format before and I didn’t know how I was going to get on with it so my blogger friend Sophie (Beware of the Reader) suggested audio……and it was superb.

This was also my first book by this author. I am loving these new experiences!

The beginning and the end of Daisy Jones. The rise and the fall.

The sex, drugs and rock n roll of the 70’s.

This was unique.

Its gritty and raw.

The writing is just genius.

The narrators are superb.

You need this in your life.
