Review: The Last Phi Hunter by Salinee Goldenberg

Title: The Last Phi Hunter

Author: Salinee Goldenberg

Ambitious Phi Hunter and perpetual lone wolf, Ex, finds his road to glory interrupted when a heavily pregnant runaway enlists his help to escape through the ghost-infected forest…

Ex, the youngest member of the Phi Hunters Order, has spent his life slaying the ghosts and demons of Suyoram Kingdom. While he takes great pride in his mystical trade, collecting dwindling bounties and peddling butchered spirit organs lacks the glory he craves. He’s determined to hunt down Shar-Ala, a demon of nightmares, of madness – who has eluded even Ex’s masters.

In a provincial village along the way, Arinya, a charming muay-boran champion, saves him from an ass-kicking, despite being nine months pregnant. In return, she asks him to escort her through the dangerous, spirit-filled forest, where ghosts salivate over the scent of the unborn.

But as more of Arinya’s secrets emerge, and the elusive demon nears, Ex must face dangers from both men and monsters, or lose not only the respect of the Phi Hunters, but the Hunters themselves, along with the woman he’s trying not to fall in love with.

Firstly, let me say this cover is stunning!

Ex is a young phi hunter who comes upon a very pregnant woman, Arinya, who asks for his help getting through the spirit forest.

What follows is probably one of the most unique stories I’ve read! It was quite gory in places too!

I did find the first half a bit slow going but the romance was so beautiful that I couldn’t stop reading! Utterly beautiful!

The writing was so good and the way the characters were written made me fall in love with them, especially Ex!

Cant wait to see more from this author!

Series: Ironside Academy #4

Author: Jane Washington

All that glimmers is not gold, but nothing glows quite like the gilded cage of Ironside Academy.

The Ironside Show is back. Bigger than ever, and shinier, too.

To the audience, it’s a glorious spectacle, but to Isobel Carter and the Alphas of Dorm A, it’s a trap. A maze. The further they venture, the darker their path becomes, until all the tarnish has flaked away and only the bare metal bars remain.

Every choice has a consequence. Sometimes, they are awarded pretty bribes in pretty packages. Other times, there is only pain. Whatever awaits them, they will have no choice but to forge ahead, each decision leading them deeper into a labyrinth of manipulation and danger.

Their goal: fame, at all costs.

Unfortunately, with fame comes scrutiny, and there’s one secret they can’t afford to reveal.

One beautiful, brutal secret that could bring it all crashing down.

Beware those that climb.

Beware those that fall.

Beware the pretty pretenders, because this social media game just got deadly serious.

In the words of @IronsideIsAlpha: That entire performance book just became my sexuality.

I am absolutely obsessed with this series and this book was no exception.

We start where we left off and we have: a new location, utterly ruthless officials, horrible Dads, the amazing text chats, professors, the alphas, the segsual bits and my Theo all wrapped up in the game that is Ironside Academy.

I have totally lost all grip on reality with this series and find myself wanting to reread over and over again! I need a special edition of this series (with UK postage!!!!!)

One last question, how am I going to be able to last until December until the next book? That bloomin bonus scene actually blew my mind.

20 Books of Summer! I’m in!!!

Cathy746Books has bought back 20 Books of Summer! I’m so in!

Here’s what Cathy has said:

• Starts Saturday 1 June and finishes on Sunday 1 September.

• Deciding to drop your goal from 20 to 15 (or even 10)? Got for it!

• Want to swap a book? Go for it.

• Fancy changing your list half way through? No problem.

I had to look back and see how many years I’ve joined in and it’s been 6 years so this will be my 7th!

So if you fancy getting 20 books off your TBR in three months, join in!

I’m going to pledge to read 20 books but, as I’m a mood reader, I won’t be naming my books. If I do name some it all falls apart and then I feel so guilty!!!!

Are you joining? What books would you go for?

I also went to the office this week for the first time since October!

I swept the guilt of my tbr and arcs under the table and did end up doing a series reread in prep for the next book in Ironside Academy that releases TOMORROW!!!
