The Sunday Post!

The Sunday Post is a blog news meme hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer  It’s a chance to share news, a post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received.

I hope you had a great week!

July has arrived! Isn’t time just flying?!

I went to the office every day this past week as my son had work experience and I am out of practice! What with rubbish sleep because of the heat, being stuck in traffic morning and evening and full on days…..I was tired!

It was also a slow reading week, I managed to squeeze in an audiobook only!

BLURB

At some point, every game has to end.

There must be a winner, and there must be a loser.

There must be victory at all costs.

Behind the cameras, something is shifting. The script is off, and their masks are slipping. The only thing more dangerous than the truth is what they’ll do to keep it hidden, but the walls are closing in and the spotlight is burning brighter than ever. For Isobel and the Alphas, there is nowhere left to hide.

The time for moves and countermoves has come to an end.

The game, finally, has come to an end.

Beware, pretty Icons.

Ironside Academy has terminated the feed.

Holy hellz, where do I start?

Lets start with how my mind was actually blown, the emotion was totally wrung out of me and I am so sad there will be no more of the Gifted world!

The Alpha’s and their Sigma are back battling against the Officials of Ironside and they are put through it more than ever before…and also include Bellamy, Maya, Sophia and Luis in that!

Will Braun get his redemption arc?
Will Teak stay off the bottle?
Will Moses finally get ‘in’?
Will the group chats still make me lol?
Will we see Yulia getting her just desserts?
Will this book include instructions on how to make Theo real?

The questions are endless. But I’ve read it and I now have my answers and, guess what, I’m going to do now….you guessed it, I’m going to reread it RIGHT NOW!

TTT – aka Throwback Tuesday!

Top Ten Tuesday is featured by That Artsy Reader Girl. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Topic: Freebie/Throwback

So I had a think about what I wanted to do and thought it might be good to shame myself and go back to a reading list I’d posted from last year and see if I actually read them!!!!

I’m a mood reader so I don’t know why I do these posts (!) but here’s the books from my 2024 Autumn reading list and whether I read them or they are still lingering on my shelves, gathering dust!

The Maid and Crocodile by Jordan Ifueko ✔️
A Pirates Life for Tea by Rebecca Thorne✔️
A Dark and Drowning Tide by Allison Saft✔️
Januaries by Olivie Blake✔️
The Honey Witch by Sydney J Shields❌️
Au Pair Affair by Tessa Bailey❌️
Blood Orchid by Kylie Lee Baker✔️
Daydream by Hannah Grace ✔️
Darker by Four by June CL Tan❌️
Lore of the Wilds by Analeigh Sbrana✔️

Have you read any of these?

I hope you had a great week!

Here we are coming to the end of June and the hot weather is back *cries* and my hayfever has started with a vengeance!

Work seems to be calming down, I’m beginning to see the woods through the trees as they say!

My son has work experience this coming week at my place so I have to go into the office every day – just vile!!!!!

Beat the Backlist – 2nd Update

Beat the Backlist 2025!

You can still join in – see the new BTB site here.

The challenge runs from 1st January and ends on 31st December, and you can only count a book as applicable if it was published before 1st January 2024.

I didn’t set a goal but said I had 87 books on my tbr….let’s see how I did in the first half of the year – did I show my tbr who’s boss?!

Sort of……but there’s more work to be done!

My first update is here and, since my last update, I’ve read another 9 tbr books bringing my total up to 14 this year so far!

Here’s a few that I read:

Rebel Witch by Kristen Ciccarelli (arc rec in 24)
Tribute of Fire by Sariah Wilson
Blood and Steel by Helen Scheuerer
The Half King by Melissa Landers
Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros
Glow by Raven Kennedy
The Teller of Small Fortunes by Julie Leong
Sorcery and Small Magics by Maiga Doocy
Gold by Raven Kennedy

Now, to keep the momentum up!

Best Books of 2025 – half year update!

I love it when a book completely hooks you in, you fall in love with the story, and when you’ve finished, you feel exhilarated!

So I decided to make a list of them! I’ve read 45 books so far this year, and these are the ones I’ve loved (not necessarily released this year, I read then!)

Iron and Embers by Helen Scheuerer
Blood and Steel by Helen Scheuerer
The Bones Beneath My Skin by TJ Klune
Sorcery and Small Magics by Maiga Doocy
Traumaland by Josh Silver

What have been your best books of the year so far?
