CJR The Brit: My best books of 2017!

piZap_1505899044973.jpg

Well here it is, nearly the end of the reading year.

What a great reading year it has been.  So many fabulous books released and so many good books devoured by us bloggers/readers!

I published a post earlier on in the year about my favourite books from the 1st half of 2017 and you can read that here.

Below are my favourite books from the 2nd half of 2017 (not necessarily released then, I just read then!):

El Diablo by M Robinson

See my review here.

Eye Candy Anthology – various.  It’s not often an anthology would make my best list but the authors and the stories from my favourite series made this a total hit with me!

November is here so it’s the start of my read my tbr quarter! Here are the books I want to read in November..wish me luck!

I’m getting in a bit of a panic about my ever growing tbr, so for a quick win, I am only going to read books off my tbr that are under 300 pages as I know I can power through them. Yes I am odd! I did look about for a challenge for that but didn’t see one. If anyone knows of one then please let me know.

I have a choice of 9:

untitled.png

I’m not sure I will get through all of them as I also have 8 arcs coming for September and October but I will give it a good go!

And I just wanted to add this in…..

Thank you!!!

How was your August?

The Brits Monthly Wrap Up: July

ZomboMeme 26062017191903

The end of another month. Can you believe it! Before I know it I’ll be putting up my Christmas tree!

So July has been busy and I’ve had a reading slump (but that’s another story!)

So here we go…..

Secondborn (Secondborn Series Book 1)“>Secondborn by Amy A Bartol πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

Half-Blood (Covenant)“>Half-Blood by Jennifer L Armentrout πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

<a href=”http://”>Bad Bad Bad by K Webster πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

El Diablo“>El Diablo by M Robinson πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

The Queen and the Cure (The Bird and the Sword Chronicles Book 2)“>The Queen and the Cure by Amy Harmon πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

Easton“>Easton by K Webster πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

August…I have a love/hate relationship with August. Kids are off school for the whole of August. For the first week or so, I love it. Not getting woken up by an alarm, holidays and not having to be anywhere at a certain time.

Then the flip side….no matter what we do, where we go, I know my son will say those dreaded words at least twice a day: ‘I’m bored’. Then I get no reading done. Sigh.

So this is what I want to read in August……but not sure if i will get to read half of them but its good to have goals!

for aug

#CJRTheBritΒ  My summer reads: UPDATE

At the beginning of July, I posted 9 books that I wanted to read over the summer. Well I am there! (I haven’t read Hideaway yet but I would sell my firstborn for an arc!)

I must admit that I didn’t read My Best Friends Ex. I know, I know! Taboo is one of my faves as I love being shocked but once I read the blurb again I realised I wasn’t as interested as I first thought. But it’s still on my tbr!

I also chose my next reads:

The Brits June Wrap Up and what’s in store for July!

ZomboMeme 26062017191903.jpgWow, the year is flying by, before we know it, it will be Christmas! (Please don’t throw anything at me!!!)

June was a great reading month as well as a heatwave for us, my son had camp and my job was hectic!

Read by The Brit in June:

Dark, depraved, stalkery, cringey goodness! πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

The bad boy and the good girl whose roles reverse! πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

Virtual assistant and star hockey player meet in real life! πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

Β The infamous bad boy gets taken down a peg or two! πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

2nd book in the Devils Wolves Series. Two tortured souls trying to make it through life.Β  πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

Can’t say too much as a beta read but if you loved The Silver Swan you NEED to read this!

I read this for a friend. Basically the author had been pushed aside as this book features cheating. You know what? *gets on soapbox* This book was a 5 star read. The story = amazing. The writing = superb. *gets off soapbox**!! πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

July is the end of the school year and we are going on holiday for 2 weeks so hopefully I can get some reading in!Β  I am determined to read some books off my TBR…so here we go!

A Court of Wings and Ruin (A Court of Thorns and Roses)

Transcendence

El Diablo [The Devil]: The Good Ol’ Boys Spin Off

Half-Blood: A Covenant Novel

The Queen and the Cure (The Bird and the Sword Chronicles Book 2)

So that’s my plans for July, what did you read in May?

What are your reading plans for July?

#bookwatch Wrapping up May and what’s in store for June

My May has been taken over by Game Of Thrones.Β  I haven’t watched any of it before but at the end of April, I decided I wanted to catch up to where everyone else is and I am now halfway through season 5, to the detriment of my reading *insert sob*.

I did read 7 arcs and 1 book off my TBR though so not too shabby!

May read

Until Sage by Aurora Rose Reynolds 5/5 – love this series and was great to see Sage finally get his boom!

The List by Chantal Fernando 4/5 – a shy introverted girl with a ‘list’ of things to experience.

Shacking Up by Helena Hunting 5/5 – this author can do no wrong in my eyes. It all starts with a cough in the face!

When It’s Real by Erin Watt 5/5Β – a sweet, fantastic NA read.

Tank by Laramie Briscoe 4/5 – a beautiful, emotional love story.

Ruckus by LJ Shen 5/5 – #feelingsoverload

Angels Halo: Atonement by Terri Anne Browning 3.5/5 – Love this seriesΒ  but I wasn’tΒ in love with this book.Β  I still want more from the Angel’s Halo MC though!

So that’s May wrapped up – – – – – on to June!

June will be a slow reading month for me as I have some work commitments that I won’t bore you with!

June reds

ARCs (I have signedΒ  up for, will hopefully get!)

Notice by K Webster – releasing June 15th

Stay (Wags 2) by Elle Kennedy & Sarina Bowen – releasing June 20th

Tied by Carian Cole – Β releasing June 26th

I am a die hard fan of these authors and anything they write, I will read!

I am chomping at the bit to read 2 from my TBR as well:

Predator by MA Horst – I was recently asked to join this authors review team and I want to read some of her past work to get a feel for her writing.Β  I have read 2 of her books already but a different genre to Predator.

Court of Mist & Fury by Sarah J Maas – I read book 1 after A LOT of people recommended them to me and I fell in love!Β  Then I immediately ran off to Amazon to buy books 2 and 3…and I am ready to devour them!

I’ll add my reviews when I’m done.
