THE QUEEN OF NOTHING BY HOLLY BLACK

**Warning: spoilers for The Cruel Prince and The Wicked King**

He will be destruction of the crown and the ruination of the throne.

Power is much easier to acquire than it is to hold onto. Jude learned this lesson when she released her control over the wicked king, Cardan, in exchange for immeasurable power.

Now as the exiled mortal Queen of Faerie, Jude is powerless and left reeling from Cardan’s betrayal. She bides her time determined to reclaim everything he took from her. Opportunity arrives in the form of her deceptive twin sister, Taryn, whose mortal life is in peril.

Jude must risk venturing back into the treacherous Faerie Court, and confront her lingering feelings for Cardan, if she wishes to save her sister. But Elfhame is not as she left it. War is brewing. As Jude slips deep within enemy lines she becomes ensnared in the conflict’s bloody politics.

And, when a dormant yet powerful curse is unleashed, panic spreads throughout the land, forcing her to choose between her ambition and her humanity…

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author Holly Black, comes the highly anticipated and jaw-dropping finale to The Folk of the Air trilogy.

Review: War by Laura Thalassa

Yesterday I posted a review of a Four Horsemen romance book called Pestilence….and now I’ve also now read book 2, War, so here we go with my review!!!!

Title: War

Series: The Four Horsemen #2

Author: Laura Thalassa

They came to earth—Pestilence, War, Famine, Death—four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to earth, and they came to end us all.

The day Jerusalem falls, Miriam Elmahdy knows her life is over. Houses are burning, the streets run red with blood, and a traitorous army is massacring every last resident. There is no surviving this, especially not once Miriam catches the eye of War himself. But when the massive and terrifying horseman corners Miriam, he calls her his wife, and instead of killing her, he takes her back to his camp.

Now Miriam faces a terrifying future, one where she watches her world burn town by town, and the one man responsible for it all is her seemingly indestructible “husband”. But there’s another side to him, one that’s gentle and loving and dead set on winning her over, and she might not be strong enough to resist.

However, if there’s one thing Miriam has learned, it’s that love and war cannot coexist. And so she must make the ultimate choice: surrender to War and watch humankind fall, or sacrifice everything and stop him.

War is here, dealing out his own brand of justice to offer humans, redemption.

And he just happens to find his ‘wife’….

‘I saw you, and for the first time, I wanted. And so, I took.’

Poor old Miriam. Enough tradegy has befallen her and now she has landed in the lap of a horseman of the apocalypse. Can’t get much worse than that.

Or can it….

‘You are my wife, you will surrender to me, and you will be mine in every sense of the word before I’ve destroyed the last of this world.’

I tell you, War said those words to me after I got a good look at him and my clothes would probably just disintegrate!!!

Review: Pestilence by Laura Thalassa

I’m not sure I’ve read any books about The Four Horsemen so when my friend recommended this as a must read, I got right on it!

And it was so good!

Title: Pestilence

Series: The Four Horsemen #1

Author: Laura Thalassa

They came to earth—Pestilence, War, Famine, Death—four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to earth, and they came to end us all.

When Pestilence comes for Sara Burn’s town, one thing is certain: everyone she knows and loves is marked for death. Unless, of course, the angelic-looking horseman is stopped, which is exactly what Sara has in mind when she shoots the unholy beast off his steed.

Too bad no one told her Pestilence can’t be killed.

Now the horseman, very much alive and very pissed off, has taken her prisoner, and he’s eager to make her suffer. Only, the longer she’s with him, the more uncertain she is about his true feelings towards her … and hers towards him.

And now, well, Sara might still be able to save the world, but in order to do so, she’ll have to sacrifice her heart in the process.

A forbidden romance of the highest order!

This book is addictive. But my god I read through this book with Thors voice playing in my head everytime Pestilence spoke, every time!

His forthright attitude and the way he ponders over Sara’s thoughts and questions, almost innocent and endearing even though his quest is anything but that. In short I loved him. Absolutely loved him!!

‘I cannot decide if you are a toxin or a tonic, he says, lifting a hand to my cheek. Only that you plague my thoughts and fill my veins.’

That glimpse of Death and then that ending, this is going to be fun!

Wishlist Wednesday…ghosts and reincarnation…..
