Hello November!

Happy November – have a great month!

We’ve books and friends,
And hearths that never can grow cold:
These make amends!”

🎃👻 The Sunday Post – 27th October 2024 🎃👻

The Sunday Post is a blog news meme hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer It’s a chance to share news, a post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received.

Hi everyone, hope you’ve had a good week? 🎃

It’s been a busy work week and I’ve worked late nearly every night but next week I have a week off and it’s Halloween!

My son has already snuck up some decorations and my friend is taking him and his friend to Scarefest. It’s not my idea of a good time and I am sceptical he will like it as he’s a bigger wuss than me!!!

I’ve actually had a good reading week!

Happy Halloween 🎃

The Friday 56….an arc!!!!

Friday 56 is a book meme – I can see who originally hosted but the site looks to have been taken over so don’t really want to share the link!

The Rules:

1. Grab a book
2. Turn to Page 56 in a physical book or 56% in your eReader of choice.
3. Find a line or paragraph that jumps out at you and share!

Pixies from Earth House darted in sinuous patterns above , periodically flinging rose petals over the assembly.

I’m reading this now and, if you love fae, you’ll love this!

Title: Servant of Earth

Series: The Shards of Magic #1

Author: Sarah Hawley

In the underground Fae realm, only the strongest and most ruthless have power—but a young human woman forced into a life of servitude is about to change everything.

Kenna Heron is best known in her village for being a little wild—some say “half feral”—but she’ll need every ounce of that ferocity to survive captivity in the cruel Fae court.

Trapped as a servant in the faeries’ underground kingdom of Mistei, Kenna must help her new mistress undertake six deadly trials, one for each branch of magic: Fire, Earth, Light, Void, Illusion, and Blood. If she succeeds, her mistress will gain immortality and become the heir to Earth House. If she doesn’t, the punishment is death—for both mistress and servant.

With no ally but a sentient dagger of mysterious origins, Kenna must face monsters, magic, and grueling physical tests. But worse dangers wait underground, and soon Kenna gets caught up in a secret rebellion against the inventively sadistic faerie king. When her feelings for the rebellion’s leader turn passionate, Kenna must decide if she’s willing to risk her life for a better world and a chance at happiness.

Surviving the trials and overthrowing a tyrant king will take cunning, courage, and an iron will… but even that may not be enough.

Stacking the Shelves – week 43 (October 2024!)

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! And audiobooks. Don’t forget audiobooks!

In other words, if you can read it or if it can be read to you – no matter how you got it – it belongs in Stacking the Shelves.

The Stacking the Shelves meme was originally hosted at Team Tynga’s Reviews. It is currently hosted by Reading Reality.

After my last post I did think that I’d gone overboard….and, whoops, I did it again!

Swordcrossed by Freya Marske
The Mistletoe Mystery by Nita Prose

Advanced Reader Copies
The Whispering Night by Susan Dennard
Servant of Earth by Sarah Hawley
Modern Divination by Isabel Agajanian

Did you get any of these?

TTT – How My Reading Habits Have Changed Over Time

Top Ten Tuesday is featured by That Artsy Reader Girl. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Topic: How My Reading Habits Have Changed Over Time

I was always a reader when I was younger and read Harry Potter and Twilight when they were out but that was it, I didn’t branch out much more!

When my son was very small, I found myself without much to do when he was in bed so I grabbed a series called Hush, Hush and then I was off!

Paranormal romance was probably my first love but then I found a Facebook community that read dark romance, rocker and MC romances and, probably exclusively, read those for 4 years.

Then I found Bookstagram and started reading young adult fantasy, sci-fi, adult fantasy and romantasy!

I haven’t read a rocker or MC romance for soooo long and part of me wonders if I should give them a try again!

The Sunday Post! Exhausted is the word of the week!

The Sunday Post is a blog news meme hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer  It’s a chance to share news, a post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received.

Hope you’ve had a good week!

A week of work, a hospital check up for my son and running around for my parents now my Dad is out of hospital (and then ended up back in today!) Exhausted….and so glad to see the weekend!

I only managed to read 1 book again this week and wondered if this is becoming the norm for me! One is better than none though!
