The Brits Review: Blood Type by KA Linde

I read this authors Ascension series back to back and was hooked. So when I was offered the chance to read an arc of #1 of her new vamp series, you bet I went for it!

Synopsis:

A startling new vision of paranormal romance: When a human ventures into the world of vampires—a decadent milieu of blood-bonds and betrayal—she discovers that not all is what it seems.

For Reyna Carpenter, giving up her body isn’t a choice. It’s survival.

In a civilization laid waste by poverty and desperation, Reyna accepts a high-paying position with the wealthy and hungry vampire elite. Her new job is as the live-in blood escort for the intimidating, demanding, and devilishly handsome Beckham Anderson. He’s everything she expected from a vampire, except for one thing—he won’t feed off her.

Reyna soon discovers that behind Beckham’s brooding, wicked façade lies a unique and complex man. And that, in a dark and divided world, she is more valuable than she ever would have believed.

For with each passing night, Reyna can’t shake the sensation that it’s Beckham who’s afraid of her.

The idea behind the book was new, and in this day and age is so refreshing! Also note that this is not a standalone, the story continues in Blood Match.

CJR THE BRIT REVIEW

What a fabulous concept the author has here! Blood donors to vampires but ran by a corporation, Visage.

Desperate to get her family out of a financial hole, Reyna signs up and finds herself blood escort to Beckham, VP of Visage.

30% in and I had so many questions, what was his deal? Was something sinister going on? Why did I suddenly think of Pretty Woman when Reyna called him Becks? My random thoughts scare me sometimes too!

Thrust into a world she wasn’t born into, I really felt for Reyna. And that dark, broody Beckham is a tease but oh so delish!

There was action and drama and it was a really enjoyable read. However there was 1 part that felt rushed, maybe it was just me, I don’t know.

But saying that, I can’t wait for part 2 after that bombshell of an ending!
