I had these 2 books on my TBR for a while and they are on my Beat The Backlist Challenge so they were next up to bat!

CJR THE BRIT REVIEW

I had heard about this book from a few of the WordPress girls and I really wanted to check it out!

Saved by a monk and a warrior, Ruby now has a job to do. ‘To heal the kingdom, we must end King Rasmus’s reign’.

I loved Arcus he was so grumpy and his banter was amusing. And his little nickname for her….Lady Firebrand!

I must admit the romance in this had me on the edge of my seat aww’ing at them! A misunderstood girl having to hide her gift her whole life and a boy battling his own demons. What more of a better pairing could you ask for! I was rooting for them.

The story kept me on the edge of my seat!

I flew straight into the next book as I needed to know what was going to happen!

CJR THE BRIT REVIEW

My first thoughts before even reading the book were when I was reading the blurb. My heart dropped to my stomach. Another love interest? I didn’t know if I could go through reading it. My beloved Arcus. Then I remembered I felt the same with ACOMAF and I definately know my allegiances changed there! But I needn’t have worried….and nor should you if you feel like me.

In this book I loved how Ruby grew as a person, I liked Kai but my heart was still with Arcus; ‘I wanted you to remember that frost is not just harsh and unforgiving. It can be delicate and welcoming. It can bend. It can learn the shape of things and melt and freeze again in a different form.’

My love interest feelings aside, (I can’t seem to get off this train of thought with this series, maybe I need to read a romance!), this book was again a fast read for me, I flew through the pages as I needed to know what was going to happen! And what a lot of great things happened!

………and now I am counting down the days till Nightblood is released!

  2. Well it’s good that it was a fast read- but it sounds like the love interest in the first one was more worth getting invested in- it’s a shame it shifted a little in the second one. Good that the character development was good though. Great reviews!
