Hi Book Friends!
I had a couple of reviews that I am not sure if I posted or not so thought I would share them with the (book) world!
First up is Batman: Nightwalker by Marie Lu
This was a new release that I grabbed and devoured straight away!
Firstly, let me just say I have watched 1 Batman film and have not read the comics so I knew next to nothing about him apart from he was an orphaned, trust fund kid so I was kind of excited to know more!
This is what I learned……
I now know that Bruce Wayne loved bats from a young age: ‘They were individuals, Dad had said, and yet they still knew, somehow, to move as one.’
Bruce has very good friends. He struck me as a loner but he really isn’t. Maybe introverted but he is loved.
Bruce does not go for good girls, girls that err on the side of caution….by a lot, yes!
I was so interested to see if Richard was in Bruce’s future. I even Googled but my skills are weak! I was hoping he would be Nightwing! I still have hope!
The bond between Bruce and Alfred. So strong. And talking of Alfred….he stole the show for me!
And an introduction to Gordon….something I knew….I yaay’d in excitement!
One last thing from me….I admit I didn’t think I was going to get on with this book but by 50% the pull to Madeline had me flipping pages like a mad woman!!! Along with Alfred, she made this book for me!
Next up is The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert. I had heard mixed things about this book and I got an arc so I dived in to see what I thought…..
For my review I thought I would just write my feelings. I knew that this book would take my breath away. And I was right.
Wow, creepy! That was my first thought. I was so drawn into it that I didn’t notice the time flying by.
Then at 40% that feeling died a bit. Alice turned into a horrible person almost overnight thinking bad thoughts and belittling the 1 person who could, and more importantly, would help her.
And then at 46% I was again sucked back in, the above forgotten, wondering if I should be reading this before going to bed….yes I have nightmares!
——
I got up early to finish….the story started to unfold, my god, did it unfold! I got my answers! I couldn’t cram those answers in fast enough!
Then the end. Not what I was expecting at all but this story is fabulous. Nothing like I have ever read. Dark and twisted and fabulous.
Have you read either of these?
What did you think?
Haha, I loved your review of Batman! How have you managed to avoid Batman for so long? That takes some skills!

I kinda want to pick up Nightwalker, but I have never seen a movie or read a comic so idk. But your review sounds so tempting aaargh. I also read The Hazel Wood. I’m still not sure if I like the way it ended or not. It surely was like nothing I’ve read before.

I have only watched 1 Batman film and it was years ago but I really enjoyed it! I don’t think you’ll regret reading it. I always get an ebook first to make sure I actually like it….maybe do that? 😁

Loved Batman but I was worried about reading as I didn’t get on with Wonderwoman.
Hazel Wood was so good. Since I read I’ve seen so many mixed reviews but I really loved it 😁
