CJR The Brit Review: Enchant by Micalea Smeltzer

I saw this book and fell in love with the cover and the blurb sounded right up my alley.  Sadly, it didn’t live up to what I had built it up to in my head (I hate it when that happens!) but I am strangely intrigued about book 2!

Mara Pryce never imagined that her life was anything but normal and then a strange gray-eyed young man appears at her graduation. When he vanishes without a trace, she’s convinced he’s a figment of her imagination. Then he appears again and shatters her whole world.

Mara is an enchanter, part of an ancient line of Wiccan power, and a war is raging—one of good and evil—between the Enchanted and the Iniquitous.

The Iniquitous want her dead and it’s Theodore’s job as her protector to keep her safe.

When Mara and Theodore arrive at a safe house, where Mara will remain hidden while learning about her powers, they find that the real threat might be a little closer to home than they want to believe.

CJR THE BRIT REVIEW

Good v’s evil, The Enchanted v’s The Iniquitous.

And Mara, dropped slap bang in the middle without a clue of what is going on.

She needs to learn. And fast. So off she goes to a safe house with Theodore, her protector.

I must admit by 15% I felt like I had been on a roller coaster. I mean I like a book to be fast paced but it felt rushed. I would’ve loved a more detailed explanation. I wanted to know more. More details.

I also really bounced around with the 2 main characters too. I really liked Theo but there were a few comments he said and I was like ‘What? You surely didn’t say that?’

I really like the premise of this book and I really liked the cliffy. I love a good cliffy. And this was a good one! Despite all my comments above I do want to read book 2 as I want to know what happens!
