Title: TRUST
Author: Kylie Scott
Genre: Mature YA
It’s no secret that I will read anything by this author so when I saw she was writing a (mature) YA book, I jumped at the chance to read it!
Have a read of the blurb:
Being young is all about the experiences: the first time you skip school, the first time you fall in love…the first time someone holds a gun to your head.
After being held hostage during a robbery at the local convenience store, seventeen year old Edie finds her attitude about life shattered. Unwilling to put up with the snobbery and bullying at her private school, she enrolls at the local public high school, crossing paths with John. The boy who risked his life to save hers.
While Edie’s beginning to run wild, however, John’s just starting to settle down. After years of partying and dealing drugs with his older brother, he’s going straight—getting to class on time, and thinking about the future.
An unlikely bond grows between the two as John keeps Edie out of trouble and helps her broaden her horizons. But when he helps her out with another first—losing her virginity—their friendship gets complicated.
Meanwhile, Edie and John are pulled back into the dangerous world they narrowly escaped. They were lucky to survive the first time, but this time they have more to lose—each other.
A YA book from Kylie Scott, creater of Mal bloody Ericson? Yes please!
A harrowing experience for a young Edie takes its toll. There that dreaded night was a shining light. John. A boy who has his fair share of troubles. A change of school, some great girls and a kindred spirit may be just what Edie needs to get her life back on track and also help someone else in the process.
There was a song going through my head reading this: Issues by Julia Michaels. Not sure why, maybe how you deal with life, admitting things to yourself and knowing there is someone there who just gets you.
John stood out for me in this book, he stole my heart….’He nodded like it was decided. Because it was.’
I’ve read all this author’s work and loved each one. I also love YA books and this has all the components of a fantastic read, I was glued to it.

so fucking true!!! It’s hard to top Mal. He will always be my favorite. But Trust was unbelievably good!! Outstanding really! Compared to other YA books out there – it was in a different class on its own.
